Our distant learning courses are available for continuing education credit for addiction counselors, as set forth by the ICAADA.
Initial Certification
ICAADA allows those seeking initial CADAC certification to take all of their hours as distance learning. 6 hours are required in ethics or mental health law and 6 hours are required in HIV/AIDS training. Please see ICAADA website for further details regarding specific content requirements.
Recertification
ICAADA requires that 20 hours for recertification be substance abuse specific. Please be aware of these requirements when selecting courses on this site.
Certified Peer Recovery Coach – 40 hours of recovery coach domain specific education every two year, including 6 clock-hours in recovery support (or non-clinical) ethics and 6 clock-hours in cultural competency education.

Addiction Consultant in Training
Addiction Consultant in Training (ACIT) is an entry level addiction treatment credential for individuals employed in the addiction treatment field, or enrolled as a college student in addiction treatment studies. This is a non-renewable credential for those pursuing CADAC. 6 hours of addiction counseling ethics and 6 hours of HIV/AIDS training are required.
