Renewal
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
60 hours required, 30 must by substance abuse specific, 3 in HIV/AIDS, and 3 in professional ethics. 3 hours, in any combination, covering the following topics: nicotine dependence, psychopathology, evidence-based treatment approaches, substance abuse issues in older adults, substance abuse issues affecting veterans.
Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)
40 hours required, 30 must by substance abuse specific,3 in HIV/AIDS, and 3 in professional ethics. 3 hours, in any combination, covering the following topics: nicotine dependence, psychopathology, evidence-based treatment approaches, substance abuse issues in older adults, substance abuse issues affecting veterans.
Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP) 60 hours every two years in CCJP performance domains.
Domain #1 — Dynamics of Addiction and Criminal Behavior,
Domain #2 — Legal, Ethical, and Professional Responsibility,
Domain #3 — Criminal Justice System and Processes
Domain #4 — Screening, Intake and Assessment,
Domain #5 — Case Management, Monitoring, and Client Supervision,
Domain #6 — Counseling (a minimum of 10 hours in each domain)
Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), 15 hours

At least 190 hours of substance use disorder specific education or training. Up to 80 hours may be topics related to general skill building for counselors.
- At least 6 hours of clinical ethics (HIPAA, boundaries, dual relationships, confidentiality, etc.)
- At least 6 hours in one or more of these topics: HIV/AIDS/STD/TB/BBP
Renewal - At least 30 clock hours of SUD specific training. The remaining hours can be related to general counseling skills. - At least 3 hours of clinical ethics (HIPAA, boundaries, dual relationships, confidentiality, etc.)

- At least 6 hours of clinical supervision specific education or training. A fully licensed LCAS is eligible to provide ongoing supervision for a fully certified CADC. Because of this, you are required to have training in how to supervise other substance use disorder / counseling professionals.
