Starting January 1, 2021, in order to register and practice the profession, each psychologist, licensed under the Education Law, must complete 36 hours of CE from a Department approved provider during each triennial registration period.
Self-study limitations – Self-study activities are provided through various media but do not allow the learner to contact the instructor in real-time with questions and/or comments. The Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations allow a licensed psychologist to complete no more than one-third of the required hours as self-study in each registration period. This would translate to a limit of 12 hours for a typical 36-month registration period.
