Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants must renew their license every year on or before their birthday.
Physical Therapists must complete 32 hours of continuing education and 200 hours of employment every two years. Physical therapist Assistants must complete 24 hours of continuing education and 200 hours of employment every two years.
- Suicide Prevention Training: All liceneses are required to take three hours of a one-time training on suicide prevention. See a list of approved courses here: https://doh.wa.gov/public-health-provider-resources/healthcare-professions-and-facilities/suicide-prevention/training-programs/model-list
- Health Equity: Effective January 1, 2024, licensees are required to complete 2 hours of health equity CE every two years. These 2 hours may be counted towards your CE requirements. NOTE: The Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses for presenters or licensees. Licensees may only report continuing education courses that are specifically related to the practice of physical therapy.
