Active Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants must complete 30 hours of continuing education during each two-year licensure renewal period between February 1 and January 31 of odd-numbered years (2017-2019, 2019-2021, etc.). Exceptions apply for first renewals. See the board page for more information: https://dpr.delaware.gov/boards/physicaltherapy/continuing-education-and-audit-information/
The CE requirement includes 2 hours of ethics as well as proof of current CPR certification by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, National Safety Council or other agency approved by the Board and posted on the Division of Professional Regulation’s website. CPR certification must be obtained through a course with a live lab component. Proof of current CPR certification will count for 1 hour.
CE hours cannot be carried over from one biennial period to the next. Random audits are performed by the Board to ensure compliance with the license requirements. License holders selected for the random audit must verify that they have maintained the required CE hours. Do not upload any CE documentation unless notified that you have been selected for audit.
