The Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy requires each licensed Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant to participate in 30 hours of continuing education per licensure period which is between January 1st of the even numbered year through December 31st of the odd numbered year of each biennium. Licensees are not to exceed 10 CE hours per calendar day. The rolling over of unused hours will not be allowed from one biennium to the next biennium.
A minimum of 4 hours per biennium must be obtained in a Georgia Ethics and Jurisprudence course OR by retaking the Georgia Jurisprudence Assessment Module (GA JAM).
- A Georgia Ethics and Jurisprudence course must be obtained from a Georgia college or university with an accredited physical therapy education program or a provider which holds a current Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG) Approval Certificate for the course.
- Passage of the Georgia Jurisprudence Assessment Module (GA JAM) is equivalent to the 4 hour requirement for Georgia Ethics and Jurisprudence provided that the same test result has not been previously submitted to the Board as part of an application for licensure or to satisfy the requirements of an order of the Board. The GA JAM can be taken here: https://www.fsbpt.org/Our-Services/Jurisprudence-Assessment-Module
The Board does not pre-approve courses. It is up to licensees to select continuing education content that relates to patient care in physical therapy whether the subject is research, treatment, documentation, education, management, or some other content area.
If selected for CE Audit, applicants must provide all activities and certificates accurately and in the manner prescribed by the Board to receive credit for completing the requirements.
