This section of a larger Surgeon General’s Report on mental health reveals the diverse effects of culture and society on mental health, mental illness, and mental health services. Examined in some detail are the culture of the patient, culture of the clinician, and the impact of racism and discrimination on the provision of effective mental health services. To take a broad social perspective look at mental health across many cultural groups.
To examine the role of the clinician in providing culturally appropriate mental health services.
