About the Course

This course, based upon a 2005 national annual report compiled by 20 federal agencies, provides the latest available data on children’s well-being in the United States. It presents background data and highlights 25 key indicators of children’s well-being, including economic security, health, behavior and social environment, and education. The report includes four special features, appendices with detailed data tables, and data source descriptions. NOTE: This course ONLY includes information presented in the report through text page 71.

  1. Analyze and assess data presented regarding population and family characteristics.
  2. Identify and explain the significance of major indicators of children's well-being presented in Part II of the report.
  3. Explain how the special features presented pertain to children's well-being.
  4. Describe how family structure effects important measures of well-being among varying age groups of children.
