About the Course

This course is based on a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services monograph that addresses the risks and potential rewards of self-disclosure on people who are receiving mental health services. It addresses situations in which self-disclosure may take place, and the risks involved in choosing to disclose. Much of the information presented is based upon literature review of self-disclosure in the employment arena. Findings from a series of “key informant interviews” are also included, as are recommendations regarding self-disclosure.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Self-Disclosure and Its Impact On Individuals Who Receive Mental Health Services created by Hyman, I.
