An Implementation Guide for Behavioral Health Program Administrators (TIP 55, Part 2, Chapter 1): Behavioral Health Services for People Who Are Homeless (TIP 55) is for program administrators and deals with providing programming tailored to the needs of people who are homeless, including: Tailoring services to the needs of the population, providing training and staffing to serve people who are homeless, and providing outreach and engagement, intensive care, and ongoing rehabilitation services.

He has also held leadership roles in research administration and program evaluation and more recently has specialized in program evaluation and system analysis. He draws upon his years of expertise as a practicing psychologist, administrator, researcher and technologist to help universities evaluate their programs to implement, meet, and maintain CACREP standards.

This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially addiction counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, and social workers who seek knowledge about an implementation guide for behavioral health program administrators. It is appropriate for intermediate to advanced levels of participants' knowledge.

Course Objectives:

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  1. Describe how to develop services for clients who are homeless, the Housing First approach, the challenges in adapting programs to address the needs of people, and how to modify behavioral health services to meet the needs of clients who are homeless.
  2. Explain how to interact with community resources to build a continuum of care, develop collaborative partnerships, and know how to use the internet as a resource.
  3. Understand how to integrate behavioral health services with a community system of homelessness services while building linkages among services, and identify how to fund community homelessness services.
