Mary Anne Cohen, L.C.S.W.

Mary Anne Cohen is a professional psychotherapist since 1972 and Director of The New York Center for Eating Disorders. She is author of Lasagna for Lunch: Declaring Peace with Emotional Eating (New Forge Press, 2013) and French Toast for Breakfast: Declaring Peace with Emotional Eating (New Forge Press, 2016, Spanish Edition, 1997). She is an ongoing contributor to,,, a monthly columnist for Image Magazine since 2002, and the professional book reviewer for Ms. Cohen created the term “emotional eating” in 1982.

She hosted her own radio show on eating disorders broadcasting to NY/NJ/Connecticut on AM and FM radios and has appeared on national television. Ms. Cohen lectures extensively to professional and community groups and is a member of the National Eating Disorders Association,, Binge Eating Disorder Association, and

Her professional associations include the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the Society of Clinical Social Workers, the Association of Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work.
