This article reviews a long-term follow-up cohort study of 324 transgender individuals who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery (SRS). This research study defines transsexualism; discusses current treatments; discusses methodology of the study; reviews all-cause mortality, psychiatric morbidity, and crime statistics following sex reassignment surgery; discusses the implications of this research; and makes recommendations.

Identify the strengths and limitations of the current study, and discuss recommendations and conclusions.
