Children and adolescents with dissociation have a high rate of affect and behavior dysregulation. They are easily triggered and out of their window of tolerance. They can be erratic and unpredictable due to their extreme switching of self-states and high rate of comorbidity. They are often put on heavy dosages of multiple medications and are still uncontained. Placements become disrupted and the child experiences frequent moves and failed therapeutic interventions.
This webinar will focus on building internal and external awareness across all parts of the child, resolving conflicts among parts of the self, and learning effective strategies for safe expression of affect among self-states, expanding their window of tolerance, and developing metacognitive awareness. Clinical examples and artwork will depict the therapeutic process.

Specializing in child and family services, she treats preschool children through adolescence, and adults with who are dealing with difficulties such as relationship and attachment issues, depression, anxiety, academic, work, marital, child management, and family problems. She specializes in sexual, physical and emotional abuse and dissociation in children and adults, and conducts forensic evaluations of children suspected of child abuse. Ms. Waters is an internationally recognized trainer and consultant in the field of childhood trauma, abuse, and dissociation. As an invited presenter, she has conducted extensive training programs nationally and internationally ranging from a day to 5 days in Europe, Africa, South America, and North America on a variety of related topics.
