This course contains two separate articles. The first, “Telemental Health Care: An Effective Alternative to Conventional Mental Care,” is a systematic review, using high quality research articles on the applications, technologies, advantages and challenges associated with telemental health care published since year 2000. The second, “Future Directions in the Use of Telemental Health to Improve the Accessibility and Quality of Children’s Mental Health Services,” provides a brief overview of progress in providing telemental health services to children and suggests future research needed to support the advance of telemental health in the delivery of children’s mental health services.

Jonathan S. Comer, PhD
Dr. Comer is Director of the Mental Health Interventions and Technology (MINT) Program, and Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at Florida International University. He is President-Elect of the Society of Clinical Psychology (Division 12 of the American Psychological Association) and a leader in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology. He is the author of over 150 scholarly publications, including several textbooks, such as Abnormal Psychology (10th edition).
Kathleen Myers, MD, MPH, MS
Kathleen Myers MD, MPH, MS, FAACAP, FAPA, FATA is a psychiatrist who specializes in psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents, the delivery of care to distant underserved communities and using videoconferencing (or telemental health) to reach youth and families who cannot access traditional models of mental health care. She works with the Seattle Children's Hospital and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, Washington
Mostafa Langarizaden, MSc, PhD
Mostafa Langarizadeh, MSc, PhD, is an assistant professor of medical informatics at the Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. He has published more than 20 articles in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Gibson is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years in research, clinical and consulting practice. He has also held leadership roles in research administration and program evaluation and more recently has specialized in program evaluation and system analysis. He draws upon his years of expertise as a practicing psychologist, administrator, researcher and technologist to help universities evaluate their programs to implement, meet, and maintain CACREP standards.
