About the Course:
This course examines the controversy over Dissociative Identity Disorder. There is a historical retrospective of dissociation and amnesia. Dissociative theoretical models are outlined. It discusses the history of dissociation, dissociative disorder and changes to the DSM over time. It includes: scientific study of dissociation, epidemiological studies, psychobiology, genetics, acute dissociative responses to trauma, delayed recall and dissociative amnesia.
Counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge.
Acknowledge that Dissociative Identity Disorder does exist.
Identify the dissociative theoretical models.
Recognize the roles psychobiology, genetics and response to extensive trauma play in dissociation and amnesia.
