About the Course

Eating disorder researchers often struggle with low participation and retention rates in clinical trials, impacting our ability to extrapolate findings to broader populations. This article describes key barriers and motivators for research participation in a sample of patients with an eating disorder. Based upon these findings, we highlight important strategies that researchers should consider when designing future studies that include participants diagnosed with an eating disorder.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Qualitative Perceptions of and Preferences for the Research Process Among Patients With Eating Disorders created by Hallie M. Espel‐Huynh PhD et al in 2019.
