Marijuana Use in the Context of Alcohol Interventions for Mandated College Students

About the Course

This course examines marijuana use in mandated interventions for college students. The participants were dual users of marijuana and alcohol. They used marijuana weekly and heavy drinkers (>4 or 5 drinks in one sitting). Participants were given Brief Advice (BA) by peer counselors, Brief Motivational Intervention (BMI) or Assessment Only (AO) as an alcohol-only intervention, using a stepped care approach. Previous research indicated alcohol-only BMI shows reductions in both alcohol and marijuana use.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Marijuana Use in the Context of Alcohol Interventions for Mandated College Students created by Ali M. Yurasek, Ph.D. et al in 2017.
