Women who are recently released from incarceration face challenges for thriving in communities (e.g. safety, employment, maintaining social support). Several of these challenges are based in cultural and gender factors specific to women – particularly, women of color. This publication authored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides information on the nature of challenges for recently-incarcerated women and strategies for addressing each of these challenges.

Paul Pawlicki, PsyD, received his degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL, in 2005. From 2004-2006, he taught courses in general psychology, abnormal psychology, and human sexuality at Collin College in Plano, TX. He currently practices individual therapy at the Department of Sexual Medicine at Park Nicollet Health Health Services near Minneapolis, MN.
