About the Course

This is a six module course that covers the stages of crisis to postvention. The material will include: how to identify a crisis, conduct a suicide assessment, document your sessions, reduce lethal means and will end with a discussion of vicarious trauma and self care.

Norine Vander Hooven is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California since 1989. Her practice focuses on trauma, anxiety, and suicidal clients. Norine has been involved in Suicide Prevention on a national level for 7 years. As a part of the American Association of Suicidology (AAS), she has been the ​Chair of the Youth Suicide Prevention Committee (2017-2020). She is also a member of the Communications committee and the Social Media Committee for AAS. Norine has provided trainings on suicide prevention and risk assessment to therapists, school counselors, parents, students, and as a guest presenter at Oxnard College and Pepperdine University. Norine was also the Clinical Supervisor for the Children’s Intensive Response Team in Ventura County from 2011-2016. She is Certified in EMDR therapy, and is an EMDR Approved Consultant.
