Sexual Trauma History Is Associated With Reduced Orbitofrontal Network Strength in Substance-Dependent Women

About the Course

This study examined differences in intrinsic brain networks in a group of women with substance use disorder and trauma exposure. PTSD diagnosis was associated with reduced functional connectivity of an orbitofrontal network with the precuneus, mid-posterior insula, lateral prefrontal cortex and angular gyrus. OFC network strength was inversely associated with sexual violence exposure over-and-above the contribution of PTSD status alone. These findings may inform treatment response in this subpopulation.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Sexual Trauma History Is Associated With Reduced Orbitofrontal Network Strength in Substance-dependent Women created by Tasha Poppa, PhD. et al. in 2020.
