This course examines a hybrid model of a school-based substance use prevention approach. It includes: school-based prevention, overcoming adoption and implementation barriers, potential of digital health interventions, blending digital and in-class modalities, Life Skills Training (LST), program sequence, e-learning modules, class sessions, online provider training workshop, substance use, health knowledge, skills knowledge, digital health interventions and school-based prevention, and implications for substance use prevention.

Kenneth W. Griffin, PhD., MPH
Dr. Griffin is a Professor in the Department of Global & Community Health at George Mason University. His research examines health risk behaviors among children, adolescents, and young adults, with a focus on substance use and violence. He has published more than 100 articles in peer reviewed journals.
Christopher Williams, PhD., MPH
Dr. Williams is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the State University of New York at Purchase College. He is also the Director and a Senior Research Scientist at National Health Promotion Associates (NHPA). Dr. Williams’s work focuses on alcohol, tobacco, drug use, violence, and public health policies and practices. He has had multiple works published on peer reviewed journals.
L.A. Rankin is a social worker with experience in many different settings with a variety of clients. She has worked with dementia and Alzheimers patients, dual diagnosis MH/MR, in a battered women’s shelter, and a rape crisis center. She also has 11 years of experience as a child protective social worker, where she earned certificates in domestic abuse/family violence and substance abuse.
