The article titled “Influence of anxious attachment on the relationship between primary emotions and substance-related addictive behaviors” by Jürgen Fuchshuber et al. investigates the role of anxious attachment in mediating the relationship between primary emotions (sadness and anger) and addictive behaviors related to substance use. Using a structural equation modeling (SEM) approach, the study examines how anxious attachment influences the connection between primary emotions and the likelihood of engaging in substance-related addictions. The findings suggest that while anger has a direct effect on addictive behaviors, sadness impacts addictive behaviors through attachment anxiety.

Dr. Jürgen Fuchshuber is a researcher at the Center for Integrative Addiction Research, Grüner Kreis Society, Vienna, Austria. He has a background in clinical psychology and addiction research, focusing on the role of emotions and attachment in substance-related disorders. This is his first work published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Dr. Deborah Andres
Dr. Deborah Andres is a researcher at the Institute of Psychology, University of Graz, Austria. Her research focuses on the psychological underpinnings of addiction and attachment, with a special interest in the emotional and interpersonal factors that contribute to addictive behaviors. This is her first work published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Allison Brown holds a BS degree in Criminal Justice with a Psychology focus and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who currently works at a Long-Term Insurance company bringing clinical experience to claim processes. Additionally, she developed and continues to lead the Continuing Education Program for Social Workers and Nurses and often leads complex process improvement projects Prior to this, her primary focus was in mental health and worked in both the outpatient and inpatient settings providing support to adults with mental illness.
