Using a cognitive behavioral approach, this research tested 49-page workbook explains the basics of thoughts, feelings and behavior; and how they interact. It demonstrates simple, easy to use techniques for managing depression, anxiety and anger problems. It provides a key that prescribes corrective exercises based on the particular kind of thinking involved. Therapists can use the exercises to assist clients, or refer them to the workbook for home-study training.

Dr. Kevin J. Kelly is a clinical psychologist who has been active in the field of mental health since 1966. He has conducted or supervised over 1000 Cognitive Therapy groups. He founded and directed a hospital based Cognitive Therapy program and has been a program consultant and trainer in the development of numerous hospital based programs. He created Becoming Your Own Therapist as a community education course and is conducting ongoing research on the effectiveness of such courses in reducing depression and anxiety. He has conducted numerous seminars on Cognitive Therapy for professionals and was a panelist on group therapy at the World Congress of Cognitive Therapy in Toronto, Canada, 1992. He was invited to present the research findings on the effectiveness of courses using this workbook at the first World Congress of Behavioral & Cognitive Therapies in; Copenhagen, Denmark.
