About the Course

This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially psychologists, counselors, social workers, and nurses who seek knowledge about children who are raised in a self-indulgent world. Dr. Kindlon has written an immensely valuable book about wise parenting in an age of American indulgence. His book sends a needed wake-up call for parents struggling to raise kids in a self-indulgent world. It beautifully explains the rationale between being a good parent first and good friend second, and gives example after example in effectively dealing with almost every conceivable challenge parents face. Implicit throughout is that the primary goal of every parent should be to develop the character of their children.

This course is based on the book, Too Much of a Good Thing: Raising Children of Character in an Indulgent Age created by Kindlon, Dan, Ph.D.
